PM Dahal Recalls Transition From Insurgency to Peace Through Dialogues with Late Koirala

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' emphasized the importance of a peaceful revolution to establish good governance, justice, and prosperity in the country.

Speaking at an event commemorating the 12th anniversary of GP Koirala Memorial College and the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, PM Dahal highlighted that mere general reforms would not be sufficient to address the existing anomalies, anarchy, irregularities, and threats to democracy. Therefore, he acknowledged the necessity of a peaceful revolution.

In the face of threats to democracy, PM Dahal stressed the need to restore the people's confidence in political parties with a long history. To achieve this, he acknowledged the importance of collaboration with the Nepali Congress and expressed his commitment to strengthening the current coalition government.

PM Dahal recalled the transition of the Maoists from an insurgent group to peaceful struggle through dialogues with Girija Prasad Koirala, the then President of the Nepali Congress. He highlighted that the joint people's movement had led to the establishment of the Federal Democratic Republic, and it was the collective responsibility of all to protect the democratic and republican system.

PM Dahal further emphasized the need to bring positive changes to people's lives by focusing on nation-building and self-analysis instead of spreading hate speech through social media. He expressed his confidence that the courage and strong willpower demonstrated by the late Koirala would serve as an inspiration to all. PM Dahal regarded Koirala as his guardian and expressed unwavering faith and trust in him.

Recognizing the significance of the education sector in nation-building, PM Dahal informed the audience about the government's plans to introduce the University Act. This reflects the government's commitment to strengthening the education system and its role in shaping the country's future.
